What a day. What a weekend.
This weekend I just felt overall exhausted, worn out, etc, and Sunday I dealt with a migraine all day and evening. I took a nap on both Saturday and Sunday. Still didn't help. Last night I went to bed around 9:30 and woke up this morning at 5:00 am.
I'm growing so tired of the same thing, day after day with work. With working, in general. Everything is so negative, always seems like we're being dealt bad news. Ever since the first of the year, we've been receiving twice-weekly emails about "cost-cutting", "NO Overtime", etc. etc.
This morning my Supervisor asked my coworker and me for our work cell phone numbers. Supervisor said that Manager asked for them.
Well, there goes my cell phone. Not that I've been fielding a ton of after-hours work phone calls.
This whole thing about cost-cutting is making me nervous. I'm "coping" by taking down the majority of my personal items, trinkets, photos etc and putting them in a cardboard box under my desk. "Just in case", I tell Coworker. You never know when you've gotta get out in a hurry.
Well? It's true, you never know! If HR Manager taps me on the shoulder one day and is carrying an empty cardboard box, you bet your sweet bippy that I'm not going to take my sweet time gathering my belongings before the door doesn't hit me on the way out!
And speaking of stirring the pot... we're constantly asked to provide cost-cutting ideas. My idea this morning? I sent a note to Supervisor and Manager asking them if the indoor office plants/trees and the associated (weekly) maintenance are necessary. She forwarded it to Facilities Director. We'll see what happens. Manager said it was a good tip, although unsure of how much money it would save since it doesn't come out of her department's budget. That comes out of Facilities Director's budget.
Me? My department? I have Zero budget. I needed a footrest because my legs were getting so sore from sitting over 2 1/2 hours straight. So, did I order a $40-60 footrest? Nope. I improvised. I'm using the lid of a copy paper box. Oh yeah, I'm serious about this savings thing!
On another note, I'm trying to wear a skirt to work at least once a week. I'm really wanting to work on my outward appearance to make myself appear more feminine. Now, I'm not going to trade in all my pants for ankle-length skirts. I would just like to soften my look a bit. Pink cheeks, pink-y lipgloss, softer colors with my sweaters and tops, and a knee-length feminine skirt now and then. Today it's a pink sweater set with a black pencil skirt, and black flats with jewel accents.
To be continued... I'm heading out to enjoy my one hour lunch.
